LWRT & GMT lines

Lightweight reinforced thermoplastics (LWRT) and glass mat thermoplastics (GMT) are prepreg fabrics, already impregnated with a thermoplastic resin before the molding process begins. Because it is a thermoplastic material, it is easier to recycle as reheating it will separate it from the fiber. To process these materials they must first be heated to high temperatures (about 200°C), then moved quickly to the press for shaping before they cool down. The forming mold is relatively cold (about 60°C), helping to solidify the resin once the material has acquired the desired shape.

Our turnkey plants for LWRT & GMT

The plants we provide for LWRT and GMT offer the highest possible stiffness to weight ratio, and easily couples with reinforcing and aesthetic external layers in a single process. This technology allows parts with varying degrees of thickness to be created in the same part.

To reduce the required steps for finishing each part, saving time, cutting and/or trimming can be done inside the tool.
