Fillers for PUR foams

Fillers to enhance performance

Solid fillers commonly used in polyurethane foams include. Solid fillers are widely used for sound insulation parts, structural or semi-structural parts and those parts requiring resistance to fire.

Our know-how

We have extensive knowledge in processing all types of solid fillers and provide excellent dosing and mixing equipment for filled polyurethane formulations.

We work in close partnership with customers and raw material suppliers, and have always been at the forefront for these additives.

Customers often take advantage of our in-house lab for testing new materials as our patented technologies cover the full range of mixing and metering for fillers.

Our experience extends to:

  • Barium sulfate
  • Calcium carbonate
  • Microspheres
  • Wollastonite
  • Glass fiber
  • Carbon fiber
  • Expandable graphite
  • Aluminum trihydroxide (ATH)
  • Titanium dioxide
  • Carbon black
  • Natural fibers
  • Recycled PUR

Expandable graphite: a temperamental flame-retardant filler

Expandable graphite (EG), when it comes into contact with extreme temperatures, expands to stop flames from spreading.

This intumescent quality makes EG an excellent choice for increasing safety of polyurethane foams for many applications, from automotive to mass transport even to furniture for public spaces.

But, during the dosing and mixing processes with polyurethane machines, EG may undergo mechanical stress that causes it to break, releasing sulfuric acid into the polyol, thus compromising the catalysis of the formulation.

To prevent this, it is necessary to have the proper equipment. Our EG-AX kit is dedicated to handling expandable graphite with the utmost care so you can produce safer, higher quality foams.
