What sets our mixing heads apart: the purpose
Mixing heads are a critical component in many industrial and manufacturing processes where two or more materials (polyurethanes and reactive polymers) need to be combined accurately and consistently. Their primary function is to blend chemical components in precise proportions to ensure a homogeneous mixture before application or further processing.
Whether it’s for sandwich insulation panels, footwear, or automotive parts, our best-in-class mixing heads ensure that your end product meets strict quality standards by delivering precisely blended chemicals every time.
Mixing head applications
Specific mixing heads are designed for every particular application/industry, such as:
- Automotive: aesthetic and structural parts for interiors and exteriors, including seating, cavity filling, surface coating (RIM)
- Construction: sandwich insulation panels
- Refrigeration & white appliances: insulation to increase energy efficiency
- EV batteries: potting
- Aerospace: HP-RTM for structural parts
Different types of high-pressure mixing heads
By number of components
- High-pressure two-component mixing heads: Combine two reactive components, commonly used in polyurethane or epoxy applications
- High-pressure multi-component mixing heads: Complex systems for mixing three or more components simultaneously
By chamber design
- Straight: using a straight chamber, these are ideal for closed mold applications that require specific nose lengths to reach the mold (e.g., LN: outputs from 140-10,000 cc/sec)
- L-shaped: two perpendicular mixing chambers take advantage of a 90° angle to reduce turbulence and grant a better laminar flow (e.g., FPL SR, outstanding laminar flow in open molds: 120-1500 cc/sec)
- Spray: These mixing heads spray the material at high pressure on the surface of a part (e.g., LS Spray: up to 260 cc/sec without overspraying)
Injectors
Injectors are one of the most important parts of a high-pressure mixing head, transforming the pressure of components metered by the pumps into kinetic energy. This energy is used to generate the turbulent motion needed to blend the mixture. The type of injector (fixed or spring-loaded) that best fits your mixing head is highly dependent on your final product, chemicals, and process parameters, and our expertise will help you choose the perfect solution.
