VerticAL

VerticAL represents our approach to structural component production with semi-solid metal technology by rheocasting aluminum alloys.
Semi-solid casting in general, and our rheocasting method in particular, produces components with a finer and more disperse microstructure, characterized by globular-shaped grains instead of the classic dendritic ones.
Such a structure guarantees sounder parts with improved strength, fatigue life, wear resistance and allows V-SSM (Vertical Semi-Solid Metal) to compete with forged components and composite materials.

Designed to perfection

This plant, featuring a short-stroke press design, multiple containers, an in-line slurry preparation system and automation, allows reduced cycle times: all operations auxiliary to injection are executed in hidden time, during injection itself and while the component solidifies.

Since the molten metal temperature is lower than traditional high-pressure die-casting, V-SSM technology reduces energy consumption and improves die life.

Advantages

Completely automated process: Every operation, from when molten metal is dosed into the container to the finished part unloading is completely automatic, including lubrication of containers and mold, and preparation of the semi-solid slurry.

Fast cycle times: The multi-container approach allows for an extreme optimization of the production cycle of the plant.

Multi-container design: Allows the slurry to be prepared directly inside the injection container immediately before injection, eliminating the need to pour it and allowing for extremely high solid fraction.

Energy-saving and environmentally friendly: The SSM process allows for a lower melting temperature in the oven, granting important energy cost savings. At the same time, the vertical short stroke press design allows for 40% less hydraulic oil circulating in the plant and lower power consumption compared to a traditional press. It is possible to obtain high-quality components from secondary alloys.

Very thin walls, thicker areas and detailed features are achievable in the same part.
