EFFiciency ORiented Technology is the product of rigorous research carried out by our in-house R&D team.

The acronym EFFORT, standing for “efficiency oriented technology,” is in line with its definition: both a determined attempt and its result, or referring to a group of people acting with a common purpose — in this case, maximizing efficiency. In the mechanical sense, effort is the force exerted by a machine or during a process. We have taken this acronym to heart for this project, and are dedicated to optimizing each individual aspect of our continuous panel lines. Is it possible to do more with less? For us, the answer is a resounding “yes.”
Our passionate R&D team
No production area is left untouched by EFFORT. The goal, heavily supported by our in-house research and development team and a new dedicated group of expert engineers, is to have technology that meets the market’s demands regarding the challenges sustainable production entails. The team committed significant amounts of time examining each individual component, from the dosing unit, its mixing head and injectors, all the way through the double belt, the fully redesigned dry end section, and the plant’s customized software and hardware.
Improved metering and mixing
Our dosing machines benefit from automation and integrate more efficiently with the in-house chemical storage system resulting in a singular, optimized and consistent production environment. Newer mixing heads, with L-shaped mixing chambers, are designed and developed to process fillers like recycled PU powder, while our latest generation of injectors, dubbed NoWave, provide constant pressure during flow rate changes. The result is a smooth, completely homogeneous blend that, in the end, becomes a higher quality panel with less expense.
More efficient polymerization and resource use
The newest configuration for our double belt reduces waste and increases energy efficiency, with particular attention given to side milling, cutting to form via multi-blade saw, and transversal profiling. By altering the unwinding design, we minimized scrap during splicing, which allows the full length of each roll to be utilized while the patented in-flight cross-cutting machine — now gearless and sensorless — offers a nearly maintenance-free solution.
Powerful predictive maintenance
These newer double belt lines, as a result of in-house software and hardware production, are Industry 4.0 ready. Equipped with technology to integrate with supervision and management execution systems, production data can be collected via state-of-the-art sensors. This data is used to provide predictive maintenance through dedicated algorithms and AI, significantly reducing downtime.
Cannon has been involved in reactive polymer technologies, among others, since its founding, but the true secret of our innovation is, at its root, the willingness to experiment with and combine our technologies in new and creative ways.
We are sure that this research has been a success. Maintenance times are significantly reduced, energy efficiency has been optimized, scrap minimized, and the machine layout aligns with the principles of a circular economy. All of this to say: we worked hard so you can worry less.
