Precision elastomer casting to support industrial growth

How custom elastomer processing unlocks longer lifespans, faster maintenance, and stronger customer partnerships

The client

Founded in 1964 by engineer Antonio Varinelli, Durlast Srl is a family-owned Italian company specialized in the production of custom polyurethane elastomer components. Starting from a small workshop in Arcore, Durlast has evolved into a modern manufacturing facility in Lesmo, doubling its production space in 2018. The company serves a wide array of industries — including metallurgy, steel, offshore oil & gas, amusement, and automated warehousing — delivering custom-engineered, reliable, and chemically resistant components designed for high-stress environments.

Their reputation is built not just on material performance, but on technical precision, custom solutions, and an obsessive attention to after-sales service.

Their market edge

Durlast stands out not for scale, but for performance and service obsession. Their products are engineered for extreme durability, with rollers lasting up to three times longer than traditional ones.

They’ve built their success working closely with clients to understand applications, solve problems, and develop custom solutions—turning every challenge into an opportunity for innovation. For this reason, their offer goes beyond the simple roller supply, and translates into seamless customer support, starting from 24/7 support, in-field technical assistance, and in-house lab analysis with full chemical and dimensional certification.

Their strategic focus on polyurethane elastomers over rubber has opened new markets—from steel and offshore, to amusement rides and automated warehousing—where reliability, traceability, and resistance to extreme environments are essential.

The solution

To support their diversification and need for highly tailored, high-performance polyurethane elastomers, Durlast turned to us.

  • In 2010, they acquired their first Cannon Polytec machine, a DG 200 with five components, engineered to deliver the highest processing quality and adaptable to a wide range of custom formulations and geometries.
  • In 2016, they expanded their production capabilities with a DG 150 equipped with four components. Designed for small- and medium-scale production, it is the ideal solution for continuous elastomer casting.
  • In 2017, their original DG 200 was upgraded to also process MOCA, ensuring Durlast could meet increasing regulatory and performance demands in sectors where mechanical strength, compliance, and chemical resistance are non-negotiable.

Thanks to this trio of systems, Durlast can now handle flexible batch sizes, precise multi-component formulations, and on-demand development — all with the repeatability, efficiency, and quality assurance required by their most demanding customers.
