MAP puts our Interwet-LFI equipment to the test
MAP chose us to provide highly versatile Interwet-LFI technology to reinforce structural parts for agricultural machinery.

MAP: the client
MAP, established in 1903 in Bergamo, specializes in manufacturing aesthetic and functional finished materials and parts for covering, acoustic and thermal insulation applications, meeting the needs of countless industries.
The challenge
Recently MAP has been focusing on the boating and agricultural machinery sectors, with the latter now needing to mechanically reinforce the external parts of agricultural machinery components.
Our solution
Interwet-LFI technology was chosen because it can be modulated to meet the desired final characteristics, allowing MAP to easily produce high volumes of different components with diverse colors.
The turnkey line consists of two presses sharing a foaming cabin for higher productivity and a compact layout. A three-component dosing unit with a mixing head mounted on a dedicated robot inside the cabin and equipped with a fiberglass cutter, sprays the amount of polyurethane and fiber according to the preset recipe.
After foaming, the half-mold containing the not-yet-cured component slides into the press for polymerization while a second mold enters the cabin from the other press.
This solution has proven to be a viable alternative to pre-existing technologies like SMC or DCPD for making extended, deep-drawn components for semi-structural parts.
